French entertainment company Cinesens Entertainment is releasing its app, WittiZ, in the UK following a successful launch in France.
The media-sharing app allows users to watch and send film and TV clips to friends to express moods or feelings. Upon receiving the clips, receivers can choose if they want to download or purchase a physical copy of the film.
The app works on any iOS device and platform, and an Android version is set to come out in a few months.
Francis Jaluzot, CEO and founder of Cinesens, said he believes the company’s partnership with digital engagement specialists Brandmovers and film distribution and marketing company We Are The Tonic will ensure a successful debut in the UK.
“This is a very exciting time for the WittiZ app,” Jaluzot said. “Following our successful launch in France we can now roll out boldly to the rest of the world”.
In addition to offering users the chance to purchase films, Cinesens is currently working on revenue sharing opportunities through native advertising on the app.
Since its debut four months ago, WittiZ has seen a surge in popularity within France. Four-and-a-half million videos have been watched on the app, and it recently won Europe’s Coolest App at the GPBullhound Summit Media Momentum Awards, as well as Best 2014 App at the AppAwards France Digitale.
Distributors already signed on with WittiZ include Twentieth Century Fox, Gaumont, Pathé and INA.
