XYZ Films has sold out the world on its Sundance horror hit Run Rabbit Run starring Succession’s Sarah Snook and announced in Berlin a raft of international territory sales following an earlier deal with Netflix.
Rights have gone in Benelux, Eastern Europe, and Israel (SPI International), Latin America (California Filmes), Scandinavia (NonStop), Middle East (Falcon Films), Portugal (NOS Lusomundo), Taiwan (Moviecloud), CIS (Mint Films), Baltics (Acme Film), Hong Kong and Macau (Intercontinental Film Distributors), Philippines (Pioneer), and India (Pictureworks).
The transactions complement the previously announced worldwide deal excluding select territories with Netflix, which will debut the film on its platform later this year.
It is a busy Berlin for XYZ Films after the company just closed a sizeable international licensing deal with Paramount Global Content Distribution on Matt Johnson’s competition entry BlackBerry which gets its world premiere tonight [Friday].
Daina Reid (The Handmaid’s Tale) directed Snook, Lily LaTorre, Damon Herriman and Greta Scacchi in Run Rabbit Run, about a fertility doctor who must challenge her beliefs and confront a ghost from her past to make sense of her young daughter’s increasingly strange behaviour. Hannah Kent wrote the screenplay.
XYZ Films financed the film through its production fund backed by IPR.VC. Sarah Shaw and Anna McLeish produced, with XYZ Films’ Nate Bolotin, Maxime Cottray, Nick Spicer and Aram Tertzakian serving as executive producers alongside Deanne Weir, Olivia Humphrey, Jack Christian, D.J. McPherson, Reid, Snook, Jake Carter, Katie Anderson, and LaTorre.
Run Rabbit Run is a Carver Films production with major production investment from XYZ Films and Screen Australia, in association with Film Victoria, the South Australian Film Corporation and Soundfirm.
XYZ Films’ current projects include the upcoming The Winter Kills with Kiefer Sutherland; Atom Egoyan’s Seven Veils starring Amanda Seyfried; and The Wasp with Naomie Harris and Natalie Dormer.
