Veteran producer Eugene Zykov is handling sales on Old Russian Cities, a series of documentaries designed to present a positive image of Russia abroad.
Zykov is selling the series through his company, Russian Film Commission: Film Media. Galina Vagina is producing the series, which consists of 16 films with more in the pipeline.
They are supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and were made through production outfit ANO “MPK”. Here in Berlin, Vagina told Screen she is planning to make a feature film version incorporating footage from all the docs.
Speaking of her decision to produce the docs, Vagina said: “Recent feature films have presented Russia in a negative way.” The series explores cities including Sochi, Derbent and Kazan.
Zykov is also representing a new documentary about Russian sculptor Alexander Rukavishnikov, The Portrait Of A Sculptor.
