Adaptation of Mirjam Mous’ bestseller to star David Kross.
German production companies Hamster Film and Action Concept have announced that Özgür Yildirim will direct Boy7.
Yildirim’s third feature is an adaptation of Mirjam Mous’ bestseller of the same name, and will star David Kross in the titular role of an 18-year-old bot who wakes up in a crowded subway with no idea of who he is or how he got there.
Emilia Schüle also stars in the teenage thriller, set to start shooting in April.
Hamster Film’s Dorothe Beinemeier commented: “We are so excited to have Özgür directing this thrilling story. He is one of the few filmmakers in Germany who has the talent and the street credibility to reach our young adult target audience, which is the most challenging and at the same time most important future audience.”
Yildirim previously directed Chiko, winner of the German LOLA for best feature, and comedy Blutzbrüdaz.
Boy7 is supported by Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and will by distributed by Koch Media.
