Historical romance world premiered in Berlin, taking home two prizes for best script and best actor.
Nikolaj Arcel’s A Royal Affair has been selected by a committee, set up by the Danish Film Institute and film industry organisations, as Denmark’s official entry for consideration in the Academy Awards’ Best Foreign Language Film category.
Arcel’s historical romance world premiered in Berlin, scooping two Silver Bears for best script (Arcel and Rasmus Heisterberg) and best actor (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard). It opened in Denmark at number one and has grossed over $6m, as well as becoming the biggest ever Danish-language film in the UK with over $580,000 grossed.
The film was produced by Louise Vesth, Sisse Graum Jørgensen, and Meta Louise Foldager for Zentropa Entertainments, with Lars von Trier, Peter Aalbæk Jensen and Peter Garde executive producing. TrustNordisk handles international sales for the film, which recently screened in the Gala section of Toronto.
