Mats Stenberg's Cold Prey II (Fritt vilt II) has set an all-time Norwegian record for a local film with 101,564 admissions during its opening weekend.
Previously the record for Norwegian opening admissions was Eva Isaksen's Mother's Elling (Mors Elling) which sold 70,952 tickets.
'We couldn't even have dreamt of such a figure,' said Cold Prey II producer Martin Sundland, of Fantefilm,
Starring Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, the film is the sequel to 2006's Cold Prey which attracted 236, 357 cinema goers. Cold Prey director Roar Uthaug, developed the sequel with Sundberg for Thomas Moldestad to write while Kristian Sinkerud co-produced. Nordisk Filmdistribusjon premièred the film at 94 theatres; it will be internationally marketed by TrustNordisk.
Norway 's best opening to date for 2008 was Spider-Man 3 with 107,235 admissions, but still a long way from the 201,350 scored by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005.
