Norwegian industry veteran Bjorg Veland has filed a petition for bankruptcy for her distribution company Media West, formerly called BV Film International.
A separate company from her sales outfit BV International Pictures, BV Film has had to close down after a disagreement over royalties on one unnamed film. Among the films released by BV Film were Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels and A Bronx Tale. The outfit is also believed to have a catalogue of some 70 titles.
It is unclear but unlikely if this will have any influence on BV International Pictures which is heading for Venice and Toronto with world sales on the Serbian competition entry, Srdjan Karanovic's Loving Glances.
BV International Pictures was launched at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 by Bjorg Veland and Heather Playford-Denman with the successful Norwegian film Junk Mail.
