Obvious Child and Life Itselfahve won key awards at the fifth American Film Festival in Wroclaw (Oct 21-26).
Gillian Robespierre’s Obvious Child was voted the best narrative of the 5th American Film Festival in Wroclaw, Poland.
Ten films were screened in the American Docs section, with Steve James’ documentary about the late Roger Ebert Life Itself, taking the top prize.
Robespierre and James recived cash prizes from BNY Mellon of $10,000 and $5,000, respectively.
The results were announced during the closing gala screening of Bennett Miller’s Foxcatcher.
The fifth AFF also held retrospectives of Orson Welles and Whit Stillman, with the latter receiving the Indie Star Award.
In total films screened throughout the weekend, including three international premieres and 54 Polish premieres.
The festival organized 137 total screenings for more than 17,000 viewers.
