Cinema goers of North London can breathe a sigh of relief - the Odeon Swiss Cottage has now reopened after a sparkling £3m refurbishment.
I was bereft when my local cinema, the Odeon Swiss Cottage, closed earlier this year for refurbishment. So it was a great relief to discover that not only is it open for business again, but that it has undergone a £3m makeover (whilst retaining the building’s classic art deco style).
The iconic cinema, which opened its doors in 1937, has had the 21st century treatment and now sports an impressive IMAX 3D screen (one of only five in London), the latest digital technology and new extra comfy seats which promise to “improve posture, reduce backache, whilst improving blood and oxygen flow.”
To top it all, there’s a lovely new bar which serves champagne and individual cheesecakes from the English Cheesecake Company.
Although I have a feeling they may cancel out the health benefits of the new chairs.
