EXCLUSIVE: Priya Sreedharan’s start-up production outfit Open Air Films is partnering with Excel Entertainment on romantic drama Three Storeys.
Directed by newcomer Arjun Mukherjee from a script by Althea Delmas, the film tells three interweaving love stories set in a chawl (tenement building), where dozens of families live cheek-by-jowl. Delmas was previously a co-writer on Happy New Year.
“Its about the decisions we make in life and the consequences of those decisions on our relationships,” Sreedharan said. Excel is backing the film, which is scheduled to start shooting in January 2015.
Open Air is also producing Hitesh Bhatia’s Char Log Kya Kahenge, selected for this year’s NFDC Screenwriters Lab. Sreedharan is close to signing with an Indian studio for the film.
The company’s debut slate also includes Ladakhi drama Chuskit, based on a true story about a disabled girl who overcomes huge obstacles to attend school. Written and to be directed by Priya Ramasubban, the project has raised funds on Kickstarter.
Sreedharan previously produced Dibakar Banerjee’s Shanghai and LSD: Love, Sex And Dhokha.
