Danish production outfit Zentropa has revealed that US database software firm Oracle and Danish venture capital outfit 2M Invest are backing its proposed English-language Internet channel, TVropa.com (Screendaily March 23).
Oracle is understood to be investing $650,000 (DKr5m) in the digital platform supporting Zentropa's on-line activities, while 2M Invest has granted the company a loan which can be converted into shares, should the channel become profitable.
The proposed channel will webcast 3-4 minute programmes about movies, entertainment, technology, music, ecology and do-it-yourself. The project is being developed by Zentropa's digital division Elektropa which is also building a web-site - armybase.com - named after the former army base in Avedore near Copenhagen, where Zentropa has set up a centre for Danish film and entertainment companies.
