San Sebastian has announced its official selection jury for this year, which will be chaired by award winning Serbian director Goran Paskaljevic.
Paskaljevic has an impressive 45 films to his name and is a regular at the major festivals. He won the Fipresci Prize at both Venice and the European Film Awards in 1998 with his film Powder Keg, and has participated twice in San Sebastian with Time Of Miracles (Vreme Cuda), which won the Fipresci Prize in 1990, and Midwinter Night’s Dream (San Zimske Noci), winner of the Special Jury Prize in 2004.
The remaining jury members are renowned Argentinian director and producer Pablo Trapero (Crane’s World, Lion’s Den), Oscar nominated Peruvian director Claudia Llosa (The Milk Of Sorrow), Philippine film maker Raya Martin (Independencia, Manila), respected make-up artist Jo Allen (Gladiator, The Sea Inside), actor Jose Coronado (Box 507), and British documentary film maker Lucy Walker, whose film Waste Land picked up the audience awards at both Sundance and Berlin earlier this year.
San Sebastian has announced that it will also be presenting Walker’s latest documentary Countdown To Zero in the Zabaltegi Specials section of the festival. The film assesses the lethal threat of nuclear weapons through interviews with international experts and world leaders.
