Pathe Distribution are working with Sky to release Paul Andrew Williams' The Cottage simultaneously on DVD and Sky Box Office.

The film will be available on DVD and to 8.8m Sky subscribers as pay-per-view both through TVs and new online VOD service Sky Player as of July 14. The film will be available for four months at standard cost of about $8 (£3.99).

The comedy/horror stars Andy Serkis, Reece Shearsmith and Jennifer Ellison.

Cameron McCracken, managing director of Pathe UK, said: 'As the on-demand market evolves, we have to evolve too. Testing the waters with a day and date DVD/PPV/VOD release for a mainstream title like The Cottage will hopefully enable us to draw the conclusion that the narrowing of windows can enhance rather than undermine commercial returns.'
