US paranormal thriller series The River will debut on iTunes in the UK just one day after its US premiere.
The River is being produced by Desperate Housewives’ producer ABC Studios and follows the story of Dr Emmet Cole (Bruce Greenwood) – a world famous wildlife expert – who goes missing in the Amazon.
Cole’s family and friends set out on a rescue mission, led by his wife Tess (Leslie Hope) and his estranged son, Lincoln (Joe Anderson). On the rescue mission they will be exposed to unexplored areas of the Amazon River and the cruelty of nature.
The first and second episodes will be available on 8 February through iTunes to UK customers. All eight episodes will eventually be made available through iTunes at £1.99 per episode or through a season pass of £9.99.
The River is produced by Amblin’s Steven Spielberg, DreamWorks Television’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, and showrunner producer Michael Green. Oren Peli, Zack Estrin, Jason Blum and Steven Schneider are executive producers.
