As the Birds Eye View Film Festival ended its fourth successful run on March 14, Persepolis was given the festival's Best Feature prize. The popular animated feature by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud has collected a slew of awards since its launch in Cannes.
Kim Longinotto's Hold Me Tight, Let Me Go won Best Documentary and Birgitte Staermose's Sophie won Best Short.
BEV also gave its Best Newcomer award to Sonja Heiss, director of closing night feature Hotel Very Welcome.
Jurors for the various sections included Verve's Julia Short, Gate Cinema founder and producer Barbara Stone, BFI's Jane Giles, actress Harriet Walter, writer Sharman MacDonald, novelist Monica Ali, and Britdoc's Beadie Finzi.
Bird's Eye View is dedicated to celebrating women film-makers.
