Elizabeth Banks’ comedy sequel for Universal will close Geena Davis and ARC Entertainment’s inaugural festival while the world premiere of TriStar Pictures’ War Room will open the event, set to run in Arkansas from May 5-9.
The Kendrick brothers’ War Room centres on a family that turns to prayer to save their marriage. Alex Kendrick, Priscilla Shirer, TC Stallings, Beth Moore and Karen Abercrombie star. The film is scheduled to open on August 28.
Banks directed Pitch Perfect 2, which will screen as a free event ahead of nationwide release on May 15. The returning cast features Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Skylar Astin, Adam DeVine, Anna Camp, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, Ester Dean, John Michael Higgins and Banks.
Paul Brooks and Max Handelman produced alongside Banks.
“We’re beyond excited to have two highly anticipated studio films open and close the first Bentonville Film Festival,” said Davis.
“War Room is another heartfelt film from Alex and Stephen Kendrick that will set a great tone for the festival. We’re honoured that Universal and Elizabeth have provided us the opportunity to be a launching pad for Pitch Perfect 2, which opens in theatres the following week.
“I can’t think of a better film to close BFF and leave audiences with a positive feeling of what this event is all about.”
