BAFTA announced that Prince William, President of BAFTA, will visit BAFTA headquarters in London on Nov 18 for the launch of a new campaign to support young people from all backgrounds to enter the film, television and games industries.
The BAFTA ‘Give Something Back’ campaign will call on BAFTA members, award winners and industry organisations to contribute towards BAFTA’s charitable activities that share the knowledge and expertise of industry practitioners with new and emerging talent. These initiatives include mentoring, scholarships, guest lectures and summer work placements.
Prince William will hear from a number of beneficiaries of BAFTA initiatives before giving a speech to formally launch the ‘Give Something Back’ campaign. He will also meet students from secondary schools who are participating in a games design workshop.
John Willis, Chairman of BAFTA, said: “We look forward to welcoming our President, HRH The Duke of Cambridge, for the launch of ‘Give Something Back’. The Duke is a generous supporter of BAFTA’s work to enable talented young people, regardless of background, to succeed in our industries. This includes giving his name to the Prince William Scholarships in Film, Television and Games, supported by BAFTA and Warner Bros., which were awarded for the first time earlier this year.”
