It’s not quite the Oscars, but it’s nice to see some awards for the best Film Festival posters of the year.
The annual Film Festival Poster Awards are given annually by the appropriately named FilmFestivalPosters.com. They honour “outstanding achievement in artwork and other promotional materials advertising film festivals around the world.” The winners range from modernist designs and snogging cowboys to dancing wine bottles and that leggy Cannes poster.
Taking the gold for 2011 is the Los Angeles Film Festival. The special jury award went to the more gruesome Like ad from the Fantasporto horror festival in Oporto, Portugal.
Silver winners were: Vancouver, French Film Festival in Australia, Transatlantyk: Poznan International Film and Music Festival, Guadalajara and Karlovy Vary.
Bronzes went to: Telluride, Outfest, the Berlinale, Deauville, Palm Springs, Sonoma, Southwest Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, San Sebastian, Newport Beach and Cannes.
