Production has begun on new York-based KamalaFilms' debut feature and psychological thriller Anamorph, starring Willem Dafoe and Scott Speedman and directed byH S Miller.
Anamorph,which takes its name from a Renaissance painting trick involving perspective,centres on a damaged detective who investigates a series of killings that maybe the work of an old adversary.
Peter Stormare, Clea DuVall, James Rebhorn, YulVazquez and Don Harvey also star and Marissa McMahon is producing. The New Yorkshoot is expected to continue throughout February.
McMahon founded Kamala Films and plans to produceup to three features a year in the $8m-$15m range.
The next two projects are a literary adaptation ofan 18th century Russian novella and a black comedy set in Myrtle Beach, SouthCarolina.
