The Mexican auteur behind such intense work as Babel and Biutiful has lined up a dramatic change of direction and plans to direct Birdman from a screenplay he co-wrote with Nicolas Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris, and Armando Bo.
Birdman is scheduled to shoot in a single location over three days in March.
The film tells the story of an actor who faces personal and career crises of confidence in the run-up to the opening of a Broadway play.
Iñárritu produces with Robert Graf and John Lesher. CAA represents the director and Birdman.
