The Berlinale World Cinema Fund has awarded five projects a total of €157,000 in its latest round of funding.
Production funding went to:
NN, director: Héctor Gálvez & Adrián Campos (Peru), producer: Piedra Alada Producciones SAC, Peru. German partner: Autentika Films. Feature film. Funding: €40,000
Harmony Lessons, director: Emir Baigazin (Kazakhstan), producer: LL Adigul Production Studio, Kazakhstan. Feature film. Funding:€ 40,000
Mohammad Saved from the Waters, director: Safaa Fathy (Egypt), producer: Zero Production, Egypt. Documentary. Feature film. Funding: €30,000
Refugiado, director: Diego Lerman (Argentina), producer: Campo Cine SRL, Argentina. German partner: 27 Films Production. Feature film. Funding: €40,000
Seven thousand euros went to the distribution of Neue Visionen’s Postcards from the Zoo, which is released in Germany in September.
The fund is an initiative of the German Federal Cultural Foundation and the Berlin International Film Festival funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media in cooperation with the Goethe Institute.
Jury members are film scholar and curator Viola Shafik, producer Marta Andreu, distributor and producer Jan De Clercq and WCF project managers Sonja Heinen and Vincenzo Bugno.
