Director Carl Franklin will start shooting drama El Chico Blanco in June 2011.
Brad Feinstein’s Titan World Entertainment is handling the finance, and Hyde Park Entertainment will handle foreign sales.
The film is about Ben Harper, a white outcast in ‘the barrio’ who becomes the head of a notorious crime family.
Peter Facinelli, who stars as Dr. Carlisle Cullen in The Twilight Saga, wrote the script, which is the third feature he has written. This follows Loosie’s, currently in post, and boxing biopic Paz.
Facinelli will also star as Harper, and his company Facinelli Films (co-founded with Rob DeFranco) will co-produce.
“The volatile drug world of El Chico Blanco has themes of temptation and corruption that have intrigued me for some time now,” said Franklin. “I look forward to collaborating with Peter and Titan to bring this riveting story to life.”
“I’m thrilled to be teaming up with Brad and Titan Worldwide Entertainment and am excited to get started on production,” added Facinelli. “Carl’s vision is perfectly in keeping with my script and I look forward to filming this as soon as I wrap on Breaking Dawn.”
El Chico Blanco will shoot on location in New Mexico.
