The New Zealand Film Commission backed project is being directed by Nelson-born filmmaker Tony Simpson.
Tony Simpson has also co-written the script, about a 12-year-old boy who wants to win Nelson’s annual Collingwood Street trolley derby race as a tribute to his late father, with Andrew Gunn.
Lord Of The Rings producer Tim Sanders will produce the film which is backed by the New Zealand Film Commission, NZ On Air, TV Works, Nelson City Council and Venture Accelerator Ltd. Rialto Distribution will release in New Zealand.
Shooting is due to begin on Aug 19 in Nelson, New Zealand.
