André Benjamin will star in the Jimi Hendrix biopic from Darko Entertainment, Subotica Entertainment and Matador Pictures.

The producers anticipate a start of principal photography later this month in Ireland.

John Ridley will direct from his original screenplay about the late guitar genius whose music continues to resonate today. Haley Atwell and Imogen Poots have signed on in co-starring roles.

Darko Entertainment will finance the film and the company’s Sean McKittrick and Jeff Culotta are producing with Danny Bramson, Subotica’s Tristan Orphen Lynch and Matador’s Nigel Thomas. Executive producers are Darko’s Ted Hamm and Ridley.

Darko Entertainment is represented by CAA. Ridley is handled by CAA, Benjamin by WME and both Atwell and Poots by CAA.
