Content Film has boarded international rights to Ironclad follow up Ironclad: Battle for Blood.
Jonathan English and Steven McDool have written the script while Rick Benattar, Andrew Curtis and English will produce through their company Mythic International Entertainment.
The “ultra-violent medieval action” charts how one of the few survivors of the Great Siege of Rochester Castle fights to protect his family’s estate from fierce Celtic raiders.
Principal Photography is due to begin this summer.
Producer English said: “We are delighted with the international success of Ironclad and thrilled to go back into that medieval world with this sequel. We’re set to make this next film even more action packed and gripping than the original and take the violence to a whole new level. The sequel will also carry forward the themes of character and courage and strong performances that defined the original.”
Content’s Carmichael said: “Ironclad has already sold close to 250,000 DVDs in the UK alone – and that massive success has been repeated all over the world. With Ironclad: Battle for Blood, we intend to bring back the same high quality of production and performance – along with the epic, ultra violent swordplay that so distinguished the original.”
