Norwegian production company Cinenord has bought the rights to the Dutch family film.
Norwegian production company Cinenord is developing a Norwegian remake of Dutch family film Cool Kids Don’t Cry.
Based on the best selling novel Eighth Graders Don’t Cry by Jacques Vriens, it tells the story of a football crazy 12-year-old girl who is unexpectedly diagnosed with leukemia.
The Dutch film was directed by Dennis Bots, written by Karen van Holst Pellekaan and produced by Rinkel Film and Bijker in co-production with Living Stone (Belgium). The film won the Audience Choice Award at the TIFF Kids film festival in Toronto and has sold 300.000 tickets since its release in Dutch cinemas on February 15.
