The Skylab is set in 1979 during a period of rampant fear that the US space station might fall from the sky. Hard hats were sold as Skylab Survival Kits during the panic – folks were concerned they’d be killed by falling debris. Ultimately, in July of that year, The Skylab scattered its debris from the Southeastern Indian Ocean across a lightly-populated area of western Australia.
The story is set in France as a family gathers, waiting for The Skylab to fall. The film starts shooting in Normandy in June 1.
