Beijing-based Bona Film Group has announced a cooperation deal with IMAX to produce Tsui Hark’s $35m 3D martial arts film Flying Swords Of Dragon Gate.
IMAX will produce and format the film into the appropriate big screen version. The film will open on 50 IMAX 3D screens in mainland China and approximately 2,000 conventional 3D screens around Chinese New Year.
Flying Swords Of Dragon Gate is the first 3D IMAX Chinese film to be released worldwide and stars Jet Li, Zhou Xun, Aloys Chen, Li, Gui Lun-mei and Mavis Fan.
Bona International Film Group, China Film Group, Shanghai Media Group and Beijing Shinshow financed and Distribution Workshop handles international sales.
