FilmNation Entertainment has picked up screen rights to Christopher Pike’s The Last Vampire series
New York based FilmNation Entertainment has acquired the screen rights to Christopher Pike’s best selling teen vampire series The Last Vampire.
The action thriller series chronicles the adventures of Sita, a 5,000–year-old vampire who never aged past her teens, and believes she is the last vampire in the world until her creator comes back to kill her.
First published in 1994, the books were re-released last year under the name Thirst, with the first installment sitting on the New York Times Bestseller list for 30 consecutive weeks.
The VP of FilmNation’s production arm Beatrice Springborn, who brought the project to the attention of the company, will produce alongside president of production Aaron Ryder. Jillian Share Zaks of Legendary Pictures, who has worked with Pike for a number of years to set up his properties, will executive produce.
“We could not pass up the opportunity to bring to life one of the best characters of young adult fiction. We see this as the original teen vampire series that started the craze today,” said Ryder.
