Frank Dillane will star in Bow Street Films’ drama featuring music from renowned Chinese pianist Lang Lang.
Catherine Jarvis will direct from her screenplay based on Peter Goldsworthy’s book of the same name about the battle of wits between an aspiring young pianist and his enigmatic Viennese teacher. Casting is underway for the role of the teacher known as the Maestro.
Production is set to begin in spring in northern Australia and Austria. Daniel Harvey and Bow Street Films partners Joe Jenckes and David Dickson are producing.
“We were immediately inspired by the universal themes brought to life in Catherine’s screenplay, particularly how she frames the story within this very powerful music,” said Jenckes and Dickson. “Frank’s amazing talent and screen presence coupled with Lang Lang’s unparalleled skill as a pianist will appeal to audiences worldwide.”
Jenckes and Dickson’s credits include Margin Call, Kill Your Darlings, Felony, Hateship Loveship and The Rambler.
