Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane will serve as executive producers on the young adult property after they joined producers and longtime collaborators Raimi [pictured] and Tapert to acquire multi-picture rights to Susan Ee’s bestselling series.
Ee’s first book start out as a self-published effort before Amazon Children’s Publishing snapped it up and it shot to the top of the young adult charts.
The story takes place in a world devastated by warrior angels as a young girl teams up with a fallen angel to rescue her kidnapped young sister.
Lucy Stille of Paradigm brokered the deal on behalf of Ee with Dan Freedman on behalf of the producers, who were alerted to the book by Aaron Lam. Nicole Brown will oversee for Good Universe.
“Susan is a brilliant writer,” said Raimi. “She has created a fantastic world with instantly engaging and real characters. I immediately connected with the material and knew that she had conceived the perfect combination for a great fantasy film.”
The second book in the Angelfall series if due this autumn.
