Producer Gail Katz, whose credits include Pawn Sacrifice and The Perfect Storm, has acquired film and TV rights to the modern classic board game The Settlers Of Catan.

The game has sold more than 22m units worldwide and takes place on a fictitious island as trading communities vie for commercial control of the world.

Downloads of the Settlers Of Catan app have exceeded 1.6million.

Katz (pictured) said she wanted to explore “what people love about the game and its mythology as a starting point for the narrative.”
