Gael Garcia Bernal will star in French comedy-drama Weeping Susannah, while Dominic Cooper [pictured] has been cast in UK-production Summer In February.

A woman, who lives a secluded life in Tel Aviv in the aftermath of the murder of Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1995, meets a distant cousin who opens her up to the outside world in Cyril Cohen’s Weeping Susannah. The film is based on Alona Kimhi’s novel and is a co-production between Thelma Films and Barbecue Films, with Marina Foïs in the title role alongside Gael Garcia Bernal. David Poirot, Christine Gozlan, Cyril Cohen and Emmanuel Murat serve as producers.

Dominic Cooper, Ophelia Lovibond, Dan Stevens and Hattie Morahan are among the cast in Summer In February, which centres on the bohemian artists group Lamorna at the start of the 20th century, including a love triangle that plays out on the Cornish coast. Shooting will kick off in January with Christopher Menaul taking on directing duties. The film is produced by Pippa Cross and Janette Day for CrossDay Productions as well as Jeremy Cowdrey for Apart Films.
