Among this week’s newly added films to Screenbase are French-Belgium drama Landes starring Marie Gillain as well as Ken Loach’s new film Spirit Of ’45.
Marie Gillain will star alongside Jalil Lespert and Miou Miou in Landes, which is set in the 1920s and centres on a woman who loses her husband and tries to live out his eccentric dream developing her own dream in the process. The story is based on the screenplay by François-Xavier Vives, Emmanuel Roy and Camille Fontaine, with Vives also directing the drama. Sésame Films is producing alongside Belgium’s WFE. Canal +, Wallimage, Ciné+, Région Aquitaine, RTBF and Sofica Cinemages provided funding support. Shooting is scheduled to start on Monday (April 2) and take place in Belgium and in the south west of France. Sophie Dulac Distribution will release in France.

Ken Loach has started principal photography on Spirit Of ’45, a feature-length documentary that looks at the significance of the year 1945 in British history. Produced by Rebecca O’Brien for Sixteen Films and Kate Ogborn and Lisa Marie Russo for Fly Film, the production also received funding from the BFI Film Fund, Film 4 and Channel 4. Lizzie Francke Katherine Butler and Anna Miralis are executive producing.
