Steven Knight makes directorial debut; Paul Webster and Tracey Seaward to produce.
IM Global has confirmed details of new Jason Statham project Hummingbird, which will mark the directorial debut of Oscar-nominated screenwriter Steven Knight (Eastern Promises).
The film has already been pre-sold to the UK (Lionsgate), Germany (Universum), Switzerland (Impuls), Scandinavia (Scanbox), and Australia (Hoyts).
Paul Webster and Tracey Seaward will produce the $20m film, about an ex-Special Forces soldier in London’s criminal underworld who becomes something of an avenging angel. The film, described as a “brutal yet surprisingly tender thriller” will shoot in London in early 2012.
IM Global is full financing and handling international sales and CAA represents North American rights.
IM Global CEO Stuart Ford said: “We had a great experience making Safe with Jason and we’re excited to team him with a director/producer team as sophisticated as Steven, Paul and Tracey.”
Webster, whose credits include Eastern Promises, Atonement and Salmon Fishing In The Yemen, added: “This is a perfect project for Shoebox Films. Thank you to Stuart Ford and the IM Global team for their tremendous support for Steve and Jason. I can’t wait for this brilliant script to make the leap from page to screen.”
Knight is co-represented by CAA and United Agents in London. His attorney is George Davis is attorney at Nelson/Davis. Statham is represented by CAA and Current Entertainment.
