Taiwanese Filmula founder Johnny Lin is expanding his reach into co-financing and production and has announced a first-look development deal with FilmNation.
The partners will co-produce and finance projects and Lin said the first title in the pipeline is the rom-com F***ing Engaged to star Jessica Biel.
Meanwhile Lin’s distribution arm Studio Solutions Group (SSG) is in negotiations to renew its output deal with Relativity for a further five years.
“As our production funding is becoming available, it is an enticing incentive to strike a deal which grants access to tier-A films for distribution and an option to finance high octane productions that may yield substantial returns,” Lin said.
He added he was actively casting his feature directorial debut, the action-comedy Tweaker’s Delight based on a screenplay by Sean McEwen.
The film follows a former drug runner who has 24 hours to navigate his way through dwarfs, biker gangs and flying reindeer en route to a custody hearing for his young son.
Recent releases for SSG include The Fighter, The King’s Speech, The Beaver and Paranormal Activity.
