EXCLUSIVE: Production has wrapped in Stockholm on Cinemantrix and G4C Innovation’s English-language Sweden-US thriller Like Me.
Hans Montelius directs the story about the ambitious son of a famous actor who arrives in Sweden to direct a film and gets caught up in video blogging and contemplates the ultimate sacrifice to satisfy his thirst for online peer endorsement.
Lukas Loughran stars in the fully financed project and G4C Innovation CEO Gudrun Giddings (pictured) serves as producer.
Post-production is taking in place in Los Angeles and Giddings will attend AFM to commence talks with sales agents.
“I’m grateful that my [feature] debut is a true Swedish-US collaboration together with my good friend Gudrun Giddings, who has been a wizard bridging the distance between Scandinavia and Hollywood,” said Montelius, an award winning short film director.
“We have worked according to one simple but strict rule: everything, from the acting to the cinematography, is realistic. Every camera angle is the point of view of one of the characters.”
Giddings added: “Loved being able to bring this movie to realisation for so many reasons, one of them being that it brings awareness to an important subject matter – the acute addiction to social media and the current challenges of cyber-bullying.
“Despite the dark theme of this project, it’s been a pleasure working with friends like Hans and the entire Swedish team. It makes the process of film making just as fun as the result.”
Giddings served as executive producer on the Before The Door production The Banshee Chapter, set to open in the US in December through XLrator Media.
