Forty Canadian and international producers will head to the Ontario Media Development Corporation’s annual International Financing Forum in Toronto.

The ninth-annual International Financing Forum (IFF), a feature co-financing market for English-language projects, will run Sept 7-8 during Toronto International Film Festival (Sept 4-14).
The two-day event includes one-on-one meetings, an industry panel discussion, roundtable meetings, a networking luncheon, and a producers’ opening night networking reception.
IFF partners include Telefilm Canada, UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), and Toronto Film Commission & Entertainment Industries.
Among this year’s international projects are:
- The Lunchbox producer Guneet Monga with sci-fi drama Punha, starring Kanal Nayyar of The Big Bang Theory;
- Land Ho! producers Mynette Louie and Sara Murphy reteaming with director Aaron Katz on Settlers;
- former Screen International Future Leader Sol Bondy of Germany’s One Two Films with US-based Jennifer Fox with her thriller The Tale to star Laura Dern, Ellen Burstyn and Sebastian Koch;
- London-based Uzma Hasan representing Guillem Morales’ Baghdad-set thriller Murderland;
- ‘71 producer Angus Lamont with Other People’s Money to star Brian Cox;
- France’s Jerome Dopffer reuniting with Carnages director Delphine Gleize on comedy Lily of the Valley, starring Chiara Mastroianni.
UK producer Rebecca Knapp of The Content Providers/Dark Engine will prsent sci-fi thriller Prisoners’ Dilemma, starring Lynn Collins (Wolverine) with production designer Frank Walsh (Inception), stunt coordinator Jim Churchman (Iron Man 3,), and visual effects producer Frank Schlegel (V for Vendetta).
From Canada, the projects include:
- Eric Jordan and Paul Stephens of The Film Works (In Darkness) with action thriller The King of Car Thieves directed by Deepa Sahi and written by Silent Hill’s Leslie Kreuger;
- Tony Wosk and Larry Raskin with thriller Resistance to be directed by Bon Cop, Bad Cop’s Erik Canuel;
- Michael Dobbin and Andrew Rendall with Moving Pictures to star Timothy Spall;
- Julia Sereny and Jennifer Kawaja with Kate Melville’s comedy Cat People;
- Mark Smith with animated Clive Barker adaptation Zoombies;
- Aisling Chin-Yee and John Cristou with Johnny Ma’s Beijing-set comedy 10,000 Happiness.
Past films at the IFF include Incendies, Coriolanus, Wadjda, Animal Kingdom and Hector and the Search for Happiness.
