The first module of Trans Atlantic Partners, held in Berlin June 19-24, has resulted in two co-production deals being signed.
Gregory MacKenzie of Canada’s Impatient Pictures has now come on board Dreamland, a Bulgarian film produced by Svetoslav Doytchinov, and Birthday Girl, a UK film produced by Jamie Nuttgens.
MacKenzie, whose credits include the film Camille starring Sienna Miller and James Franco, said: “Trans Atlantic Partners has proven invaluable. Not only am I gaining the latest know-how needed in international film co-producing, I’ve been meeting like-minded and experienced filmmakers with wonderful projects. I’m delighted to be involved in producing both The Birthday Girl and Dreamland.”
The international co-production initiative is presented by Canada’s Strategic Partners and Germany’s Erich Pommer Institut. Instructors included Amy Gilliam, Ilann Girard, Sébastien Delloye, Martin Paul Hus, and Barbara Shrier.
The second module will be held in September leading into Halifax’s Strategic Partners, which runs September 16-19.
