Mandate Pictures has acquired Bullies based on an original idea from Danny McBride that will be written by Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul and produced through Rough House Pictures.
The comedy follows two brothers who have bullied people their entire lives and finally get their come-uppance.
Rough House principals McBride, David Gordon Green, Jody Hill and Matt Reilly will produce and Mandate president Nathan Kahane will serve as executive producer. Lawrence Grey will oversee the project for Mandate.
Mogel and Paul previously wrote Yes Man and are developing the comedy Himelfarb at Warner Brothers.
McBride stars alongside James Franco and Natalie Portman in David Gordon Green’s film Your Highness, which is slated for an April 2011 release through Universal. McBride is currently in production on the second season of HBO’s hit comedy East Bound and Down.
UTA, Principato Young Management and Ziffren Brittenham represent Mogel and Paul. CAA and Forefront Media reprensent McBride, Greenand Hill.
Dan Freedman, Mandate’s head of business and legal affairs, brokered the deals on behalf of the companies.
