Zurich-based Millbrook Pictures has come on board as one of the financiers of David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method.
Jeremy Thomas and Recorded Picture Company are producing. Co-producers are Marco Mehlitz of Lago Film and Marty Katz of ProsperoFilm, and Millbrook’s Karl Spoerri is also serving as a co-producer.
Millbrook’s Thomas Sterchi and Matthias Zimmermann are executive producers alongside RPC’s Peter Watson and Stephan Mallmann.
Christopher Hampton write the script, about the turbulent relationships between Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung and a beautiful, troubled woman named Sabina Spielrein. Keira Knightley, Michael Fassbender and Viggo Mortenson star.
The film started shooting May 25 in Cologne. HanWay is handling world sales.
Commented Spoerri, “The story of the film is set in Zurich and is a historically relevant topic so we were naturally interested in the material when were introduced to it. With the commitment of such amazing talents as David Cronenberg, Viggo Mortensen, Keira Knightley, Michael Fassbender and Vincent Cassel it becomes an easy decision of Millbrook Pictures to be involved with the film. We have a great deal of respect for Jeremy Thomas and we’re excited to begin working with him on this project.”
Thomas Sterchi and Karl Spoerri founded Millbrook in 2008.
