After their success on short film No More Shall We Part,Scottish director Shaun Hughes and Iceland-born cinematographer Hakon Palsson plan to reunite on Cariño, which is now in pre-production for a likely May shoot.
The new short, being partially funded on IndieGogo, will be a psychological thriller set in Spain. Julian Richardson will play The Rider, who is travelling across rural Spain on his motorcycle when an accident exposes the darker side of human nature.
Hughes also is writing a feature to be set in Spain.
Palsson is nominated for a Scottish BAFTA New Talent award for his work on No More Shall We Part.
Hughes said: “The whole team are incredibly proud of the recognition. In particular we’re happy to get behind Hákon and support him in this well deserved nomination for his fantastic work on the film. We have big plans together in the future and I look forward to working with him again very soon.”
Palsson added: “This nomination is a reflection of the creative spirit of one of the most talented bunch of people I’ve ever met, and it’s a great motivation for us as we move into our second film together.”
