EXCLUSIVE: The Chilean director of Hidden In The Woods has lined up an April shoot for the micro-budget survival thriller in what will mark his second English-language feature.
Valladares, who attended the Beyond The Window development sidebar at Ventana Sur last week with home invasion thriller Breath, closed the deal at the market in Buenos Aires.
Barry Keating and Valladares will co-write Downhill for producer George Von Knorring of Chile’s Too Much Films.
The story centres on a paralegal trapped on an mountain with a killer on a mission to kill a sick man.
“Think Cliffhanger meets Paranormal Activity by way of David Cronenberg’s old movies,” said Valladares.
Valladares is currently in post on the adventure comedy Toro Loco: Sangriento and his credits include Fantasia Fest 2012 premiere Hidden In The Woods (En Las Afueras De La Ciudad) and his English-language remake of the same name that starred Michael Biehn.
Downhill will shoot in the Chilean resort of Termas de Chillan, as well as Santiago and Chillan City.
