Jodelle Ferland, Noah Ringer and Michael Eklund have joined UK director Mike Le Han and production partners Black Lake LFP’s teen feature The Peppercorn Chronicles.

Le Han wrote the screenplay with Helen Le Han based on his wife and creative partner’s award-winning fantasy short Mrs. Peppercorn’s Magical Reading Room.

Le Han sold the franchise rights in late 2011 to Black Lake, who will produce with Le Han, with Martina Cole serving as executive producer.

The Peppercorn Chronicles is a young adult fantasy story in vein of Twilight and Harry Potter that follows a teenage girl who moves to Black Lake with her parents and discovers secrets that reveal she could be the key to saving humanity.

Production is anticipated to start in February 2014 throughout the US and in Hungary.
