Animation studio Rainmaker Entertainment has teamed up with Blockade Entertainment to producen, based on Insomniac Games’ PlayStation video game.

Production has begun at Rainmaker’s studio in Vancouver, Canada, in time for an early 2015 release.

Jericca Cleland directs and Blockade’s CEO Brad Foxhoven produces alongside vice-president of development David Wohl. Rainmaker president Michael Hefferon serves as executive producer.

Ratchet And Clank tells the story of two unlikely heroes who struggle to stop an alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy.

The game [pictured] was first released in November 2002 and has gone on to sell 26m copies worldwide.

Rainmaker is the lead investor in the project with Wanda-owned CNHK from China. Rainmaker’s credits include Escape From Planet Earth.
