Montreal-based Remstar Films has acquired Canadian rights to Dallas Buyers Club.
Jean-Marc Vallée’s film stars Matthew McConaughey [pictured], Jennifer Garner and Jared Leto. The film recounts the true story of Ron Woodroof, a Texan cowboy diagnosed with HIV who took on the pharmaceutical companies and became an alternative health kingpin.
Shooting is underway in New Orleans with Cassian Elwes, Rachel Winters and Relativity Media president Robbie Brenner producing.
“Dallas Buyers Club adds to the line-up of quality and entertaining content Remstar is proud to present to coast-to-coast audiences,” said president and CEO Maxime Rémillard.
“With such a high profile team behind the project, starting with talented director Jean-Marc Vallée, we can expect an international quality production.”
Entertainment One will handle rights in all media in Canada in collaboration with Remstar, with the exception of theatrical, VoD and French-language television rights in Quebec.
Voltage Pictures handles international sales.
