David Gordon Green, Jody Hill and Danny McBride’s Rough House Pictures has acquired its first project.
Head of production Matt Reilly announced the company has picked up the action comedy pitch L.A.P.I. from writers Michael Diliberti and Matthew Sullivan, through Rough House’s deal with Mandate Pictures.
Hill is attached to direct and McBride (pictured) will star and the pair will produce alongside Green and Reilly. Mandate president Nathan Kahane will serve as executive producer.
Details of the plot are being kept under wraps, although the principals did disclose that McBride will play an oppressed, hard boiled private eye.
Diliberti and Sullivan are co-writing Brewster’s Millions, which is set up at Warner Bros. They are represented by WME Entertainment, New School Media, and attorney David Krintzman of Morris, Yorn, Barnes & Levine.
Green, Hill and McBride are represented by CAA. Dan Freedman brokered the deals on behalf of the company. Lionsgate handles foreign sales on the Rough House slate.
