Thaba Media’s project will pitch tent in Johannesburg and is based on US writer Tyler Hisel’s found footage script about a band of American tourists stranded in the heart of the South African wilderness.
South Africa’s David Golden will direct Rocky Myers, Kim Argetsinger, Chloe Kirby and Robert Watkins.
Anton Ernst of Thaba Media is producing Safari and Hisel and manager Alexander Robb of Insignia Entertainment are on board as executive producers. Hisel is also represented by Katie Cates of the Kaplan-Stahler Agency and attorney Rob Szymankski.
“We’re very excited to bring such a visceral, complex and moving script to life in South Africa,” Ernst said. “The story is more than just a fright-fest; there are real characters within that David, our director, will showcase in a way that furthers the genre of found footage to new heights.
“You will believe you’re on this journey with these people and you will feel the terror and emotion as they fight to survive.”
Myers is represented by Kelly Tiffan Management and Coast To Coast Talent Agency. Argetsinger is represented by Church-Hugger Management.
Thaba Media’s slate of upcoming releases includes Darrell Roodt’s Little One, recently selected as South Africa’s official foreign language Oscar submission.
