Film is the first in the world to be supported with a synchronised second screen application for inside the cinema.
Principal photography has commenced on innovative Dutch feature App, the first film in the world that will be supported with a synchronised second screen application for use inside the cinema.
Audiences will be able to follow a parallel storyline via content available through an application for iPhone and Android devices, using technology based on SyncNow digital watermarking by Civolution and app platform provider Service2Media.
Centred around Anna (Hannah Hoeskstra), a student who discovers a mysterious new app on her phone that starts sending cryptic texts and codes connected to the sudden deaths of people around her, App is the first feature film from 2CFILM which was founded recently by Kees Abrahams and Robin de Levita and is backed by Imagine Nation. The thriller is directed by Bobby Boermans and written by Robert A. Jansen.
Robin de Levita, CCO, Imagine Nation, says: “App will immediately present an exciting challenge to the way that we think about the cinema experience – it might even potentially start a trend where consumers will turn their phones on, not off, when they go to the cinema.”
App is due for release in the Netherlands in Feb 2013 and will be distributed by Just Film Distribution.
