EXCLUSIVE: Simon Blake’s debut feature stars Aidan Gillen [pictured].
Principal photography has commenced on Simon Blake’s debut feature Still, with shooting taking place in London.
The thriller follows a man, played by Aidan Gillen (The Wire), whose life has spiralled out of control after the death of his teenage son and finds himself embroiled in a feud with a teenage gang.
RSC star Jonathan Slinger, Elodie Yung, Amanda Mealing and rapper Sonny Green also star.
Zorana Piggott of 011 Productions and Colette Delaney-Smith of Blunt Pictures produce. The $1m budget feature is funded by private equity, including EIS, and UK tax credits.
“Still is a haunting, deeply moving and disturbing film about a journey, which, as a parent, we hope we will never have to make,” said Piggott.
“When I first spoke to Simon about it I was blown away by the vision and the passion he had for this story. It is the strength of Simon’s script and his unique directorial voice that has attracted such brilliant cast led by Aidan Gillen.”
“When Simon and I launched Still we had no idea the level of passion it would ignite in everyone who came across it. It’s not just the fact that Still is exceptionality well written, it’s because it resonates so powerfully with the audience,” added Delaney-Smith.
Prior to directing a number of award-winning shorts and music videos, Blake was the founder and artistic director of theatre company Changeinspeak.
Other films on 011 Productions’ slate include Tom Geens’ Couple in a Hole, picked up by Verve Pictures for the UK, and Andrew Brand’s Way Out East.
